The general activities in inventory operations management include:

• Managing and tracking the inventory of product and/or material
• Performing periodic and/or on-demand inventory cycle counts
• Managing the transfer of material between work centers
• Measuring and reporting on inventory and material transfer capabilities
•  Coordinating and controlling the personnel and equipment used in material transfer
• Directing and monitoring the transfer of material to and from production, quality, or maintenance
• Reporting on inventory to production, quality, maintenance operations management, and/or Level 4 activities
• Routing raw material to and from storage
• Identifying pack out schedules
• Staging and monitoring the movement of material in storage
